LOST Greyhound – What to do?

 If your greyhound becomes lost and you are unable to locate or lose sight of the dog for more than five minutes, contact the Lost & Found Dog Pager at:  1-800-219-5758.  You need to enter in a numeric message (Phone Number) were you can be reached.  Be sure to hit the # sign after entering the number.    

 A volunteer will contact you ASAP.   If for some reason you do not receive a phone call back within ten minutes….call the pager again, and re-enter your phone number followed by the # sign.    Occasionally people get nervous and the entire phone number does not get entered – thus hindering a volunteer from calling you back.

 Please Note:   If your Greyhound has an ID Tag with the 800-219-5758 – a Volunteer will respond and help to make arrangements to locate your dog.  The GALs are here as a support to any greyhound bearing that phone number.  Also included in our support network are greyhounds with the number 716-674-6140.

 If you are a Greyhound owner, please consider yourself automatically on the committee to help search and locate a lost greyhound.   If you prefer not be contacted when a greyhound is lost in your area, please contact us so we do not call you.  Although we would hope most people would consider helping out.

 If you are a volunteer with a flexible work schedule and can assist during the weekday (while many others are working) – please let us know so we can reach out for your assistance first.  If you are willing to drive out of your neighborhood to help search please also let us know this.

 FOUND Greyhounds:

 If you have located a greyhound, Please contact us at 800-219-5758 or call 716-867-9822.   We ask that you hold onto – with a leash or place the dog in a room or completely fenced area, somewhere safe so that it does not run away again.   We will have a Volunteer respond immediately to your call…and will have someone pick the dog up ASAP.  Thank you!
